FAQs
What is the lead time for installation?
The Keder 2m and 3m Greenhouse range have been designed as a self build project, upon receipt of payment, your kit will be put together and dispatched to you within 14 days. If you choose the full installation service, we will liaise with you to fit in your installation with our expert team.
What makes your greenhouses different to something else I can buy?
Our greenhouses have a life expectancy of 15 - 30 plus years minimum. They require almost no maintenance. You don’t need to shade them, the light is diffused, so no scorching. The cladding ensures no shadows are cast so plants don’t struggle for light. The heat retention is superb – It’s like a duvet for your plants. Our steel tube is galvanised inner and outer – Steel tube rusts from the inside out, but not if galvanised on the inside. Our steel is exceptionally strong. They are designed and manufactured to withstand the strongest wind speeds experienced in the whole of the United Kingdom, including the Hebridean, Orkney and Shetland islands. They are safe, there is nothing to shatter. If accidentally damaged, they can receive a sectional repair. They can be relocated and extended.
How is the greenhouse secured?
Our 2m and 3m wide domestic greenhouses are anchored into the ground using 1m long stakes applied at a 45 degree angle, through O rings at every 2m point on the base. Alternatively, if you want to secure the greenhouse on a concrete base it can be supplied with L brackets and raw bolts.
Who does the foundation work?
Our 2m and 3m wide domestic greenhouses can be placed directly onto soil, grass, or hardstanding.
Can I move the greenhouse?
Yes, our 2m and 3m wide domestic greenhouses can be relocated
How much room do you need around the perimeter of the greenhouse?
Our 2m and 3m wide domestic greenhouses need 1m clearance to enable construction and maintenance would be ideal.
What ventilation options are there?
Each greenhouse has a door at one end and a vent at the other end (which can be replaced with another door if required, free of charge). For an addition cost you could add a non electric automated roof vent, which automatically opens as the temperature rises.
Do you charge for Delivery? How long does it take?
Keder Greenhouse Kits can be delivered free anywhere in Mainland UK usually within 14 days from order.
I live in the Hebrides and want a Keder greenhouse, as it can be difficult to get to the shops at times, and I would like to grow my own produce, can you deliver anywhere?
Yes. Please contact the office for your quote.
Can you please send me a free sample of the Keder Cladding material?
Yes of course. Simply complete the form on the “contact us” page
I'm not sure my site is suitable for a greenhouse?
Because of the unique light diffusion properties, your Keder Greenhouse can be situated anywhere that is convenient for you.
Do I need to worry about putting in deep foundations?
Due to the robust nature of the Keder Greenhouse, heavy preparation of the foundations is not usually required. We advise a level, flat surface, both width and length.
We get a lot of snow in the winter, with the Keder Greenhouse buckle?
No, the inherent strength of the bubble sandwich, the structural design of the fram and the safe methods of fixing it with a welded weather seal allows the Kederhouse to withstand the most extreme weather conditions including snowdrifts of several feet.
How will my domestic greenhouse kit be delivered?
The majority fit on to one pallet, the longer length greenhouses might require two pallets.
Installation Instructions
Our Domestic range of greenhouses caters for virtually every size of garden.
Its unique modular system can be extended as your requirements increase and can also be relocated if required
We can provide our 2m and 3m wide greenhouses and cold frames as either self build kits for the competent DIY enthusiast (we provide a full instruction manual and video) or we can offer an installation by our professional construction team.
Materials Used
Keder Cladding
The cladding is a layered laminate plastic that has been specifically developed to combine light transparency with exceptional heat insulation – perfect for healthy plant growth. It is UV stabilised. This means an even spread of light throughout the structure, and much better thermal properties (which means lower heating costs in winter). The result of this being optimum growing conditions for your crops with the bonus of a material that needs very little maintenance and is long lasting.
Steel Frame
The frame is made from high tensile British steel and is fully galvanised inside and out. This means no corrosion or degradation in the framework.
The same structural steel is used for some of our accessories/options:
Extreme brace kit - Designed to reinforce the structure primarily for areas of poor weather, be it wind or heavy snow. The extreme brace kit can also be used as a crop rail as it runs the length of the structure.
Crop rails - These are fitted to the frame and sit between two ribs of the greenhouse. They can either be made to fit the entire length of either side or just a 2m section to fit any area.
Roof vents - A manual roof vent is fitted as standard, but an optional automated roof vent is available. This uses a wax plug and piston system meaning automation without the need for electricity. We recommend one for every 4m of greenhouse length.
Through door or disabled access - A free of charge option should you wish to have through access with a door each end, rather than an opening window at one end.
Timber
All timber used in the construction is sustainably sourced and is pressure treated and dipped for maximum longevity.
Staging: - With a slatted wooden top and a base which fits over the steel frame, our staging is incredibly strong and each 2m length can withstand up to 18 stone in weight.
